San Diego, California – Benchmark Brewing Company, BNS Brewing & Distilling Co., and Societe Brewing Company announce a collaborative celebration of summer and San Diego craft beer. Each of these three San Diego breweries celebrate their anniversaries in June, and together, the three locations will be celebrating all summer long. “These three young breweries are each doing something completely different and unique within the relatively mature San Diego beer community,” says Mike V. Sardina, the Assistant Executive Officer at Societe Brewing Company. “The Summer Solstice Ale Trail is a fun way to encourage folks to visit all three of our Tasting Rooms. We are helping to share all that the San Diego beer community has to offer and we are hopefully turning some folks on to some really incredible, world-class beer.”
When beer enthusiasts present the official 2014 Summer Solstice Ale Trail Passport at each brewery’s Tasting Room, that brewery will stamp the passport in recognition of the visit. By obtaining a stamp at each brewery and completing the passport, beer lovers will be able to redeem their passports at any location in order to receive a commemorative bar towel that celebrates the occasion. “There is so much to celebrate this Summer,” says Rachael Akin, Co-Founder of Benchmark Brewing Company. “Not only are we very excited to be releasing some special anniversary beers, but we are happy to have the chance to share them with the craft beer fans of Societe and BNS. San Diego is an amazing place to drink great beer, and our three breweries are an excellent place to start.” The 2014 Summer Solstice Ale Trail Passports will be available at each brewery beginning June 1st, and the passports and bar towel prizes will be available while supplies last. This is the place to go where the actual micro breweries get their yeast! Yeast is such an important element to making beer that if it did not exist San Diego and the USA would not be so blessed with its craft breweries. A little about White Labs in San Diego: White Labs Inc. Pure Yeast and Fermentation team members have been active in the American and worldwide craft brewing movements since the 1980s. The company, which has grown to include offices in California and Colorado, provides a wealth of services to not only brewers but also winemakers, distillers and others in the fermentation business. The company was founded by Chris White in 1995, and he and Lisa White, his ex-wife, run the company from the San Diego headquarters location. Below is a brief description of numerous company employees. Make sure to be included in the tasting room adventure: The White Labs Tasting Room, featuring beers created on site, is receiving rave reviews. The lineup of experimental beers changes regularly and features brews created with different yeasts and different brewing and fermentation techniques. The custom-built tasting room features up to 32 beers on tap and 3 on cask. On tap: This list is updated regularly: Beers on tap. Hours: Monday-Saturday: noon to 8 p.m. (Special hours for White Labs Day, see news item above) Tours: Tours are available regularly and/or by special request. San Diego Brew Tours will take you to White Labs and guarantee you the best time in our tours. This past Thursday, I went to an event at the San Diego Beer Co. located in Downtown San Diego on 6th and Broadway and had to say that i loved it. The brewery is set up like a Southern California pub and decked out with a lot of televisions to watch the sports game. They have about five to seven different types of craft beer all made at the brewery. I have three favorites that I really enjoyed and paired with excellent food.
My first was the Red Ale which is a rich and textured brew that is characterize by a rich hoppy flavor and made with local hops that give its red colored. My second was the Dark IPA which is brewed in the traditional setting of an IPA but is dark like dark and is earthy flavor. This is not a beer for anyone and reminds me of Stone's Arrogarant Bastard. This beer has an alocholic content of 9%!!! The third is called a Blonde which is a light beer and was prefered by all the women in the group! This beer is light and crisp and is yellow thus its name the Blonde. I really enjoyed the San Diego Brewery Company and have a new idea for a walking brewery tour of San Diego's brewery spots! I love the beer culture! |
