San Diego, California – Benchmark Brewing Company, BNS Brewing & Distilling Co., and Societe Brewing Company announce a collaborative celebration of summer and San Diego craft beer. Each of these three San Diego breweries celebrate their anniversaries in June, and together, the three locations will be celebrating all summer long. “These three young breweries are each doing something completely different and unique within the relatively mature San Diego beer community,” says Mike V. Sardina, the Assistant Executive Officer at Societe Brewing Company. “The Summer Solstice Ale Trail is a fun way to encourage folks to visit all three of our Tasting Rooms. We are helping to share all that the San Diego beer community has to offer and we are hopefully turning some folks on to some really incredible, world-class beer.”
When beer enthusiasts present the official 2014 Summer Solstice Ale Trail Passport at each brewery’s Tasting Room, that brewery will stamp the passport in recognition of the visit. By obtaining a stamp at each brewery and completing the passport, beer lovers will be able to redeem their passports at any location in order to receive a commemorative bar towel that celebrates the occasion. “There is so much to celebrate this Summer,” says Rachael Akin, Co-Founder of Benchmark Brewing Company. “Not only are we very excited to be releasing some special anniversary beers, but we are happy to have the chance to share them with the craft beer fans of Societe and BNS. San Diego is an amazing place to drink great beer, and our three breweries are an excellent place to start.” The 2014 Summer Solstice Ale Trail Passports will be available at each brewery beginning June 1st, and the passports and bar towel prizes will be available while supplies last. [$130 value!] http://www.sandiegobrewersguild.org With the holidays coming up, we have various new holiday tours aimed at celebrating the good life. Several breweries make up their own holiday brews for us to enjoy. Here are some quick notes: Gift of the Magi from Lost Abbey
It seems that everyone knows the story of the Three Kings. Sent to follow the star in the sky each brought a gift for the baby they sought. One King brought Gold, the other Frankincense and the other Myrrh. Many breweries produce a Christmas Seasonal beer and this is our beer to celebrate the holiday season. Gold in color and bittered with the bark of Frankincense, we have even used the smallest amount of Myrrh which is an herb that has roots in ancient winemaking as well. A massive Golden Ale fit for a king (or Queen) we offer the Gift of the Magi each holiday season. ABV: 9.5% ABV Availability: Autumn Holiday releaseSanta’s Little Helper from Port Brewery Each and every year, the Jolly Old Fatman sits down and compiles a list of who’s been naughty and nice. It’s curious that he never knows which list to put our brewers on as this is one naughty but incredibly nice beer. Originally brewed at the Pizza Port in Solana Beach in November of 1997. As dark as the biggest lump of coal Santa can deliver, this beer has earned a dedicated following and is code named Satan’s Little Hangover by those who have indulged in a holiday like manner from time to time. Originally shipped from London to the Czarist rulers of Russia, Imperial Stouts are stronger, richer and more robust versions of traditional stouts. The increase in alcohol content means that literally, many of these beers are a meal in a glass all on their own. Made from copious amounts of Roasted and Black Barleys, our stout invites you to share a silky black body with hints of freshly pulled espresso from the coffee house, melding with dark bitter sweet chocolate from a Belgian Chocolateer and the ash of a smoldering fire on a dark winters night. Just remember that somewhere out there, the jolly old fat man is making a list and checking it twice. He knows who’s been naughty and nice… Might we suggest that you forgo the Milk with the cookies this year and leave him of bottle of something incredibly nice- Say like Santa’s Little Helper? Mrs. Claus would probably like some as well. That is if Rudolph doesn’t drink it all himself. Bad Reindeer.
